Rivetti selected as interim police chief

City Manager George Chavez announced Wednesday that Dominick Rivetti has been selected as Interim Police Chief, which the City Council will vote on in its meeting May 19.

Rivetti had previously served as Interim Police Chief for the Beverly Hills Police Department in 2015. He retired as Chief of the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation that same year.

He was previously the 1985-2001 Chief of Police for the City of San Fernando and has a 40-year career in law enforcement.

“I am honored to once again have an opportunity to serve the Beverly Hills community,” Rivetti said. “I look forward to supporting the dedicated members of the department as they work to keep this city safe and maintain an exceptional quality of life.”

The council will vote to either confirm or reject Rivetti’s appointment in its upcoming meeting. If they approve it, he will begin work on May 20. Former Chief Sandra Spagnoli retires May 15 and Assistant Police Chief Marc Coopwood has been serving as Acting Chief in her absence.

“I am so pleased to welcome Dominick back to Beverly Hills,” Chavez said. “His understanding of our community and previous experience with the department will be a tremendous asset as we move forward.”
